DRYWALL SENIOR ESTIMATOR

The Commercial Drywall Senior Estimator is responsible to develop an accurate estimate of the materials and labor required to perform the work defined by the specifications and drawing of a project to include: Cold Formed Metal Framing, Drywall Hanging, Drywall Finishing, Acoustical installation, Doors Frames and Hardware Installation, Insulation, Wood Blocking and other related activities.
Production estimates must be updated in conjunction with field operations management based upon current work expectation and anticipated project conditions. Material pricing to be solicited in cooperation with suppliers. Labor rates to be set in conjunction with Operations management based upon job requirement. All estimates to be team, peer and management reviewed. Estimates to be developed using On-Screen Take-off and QuickBid.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be able to present estimated scope of work in an estimating format to the construction manager and other senior officials for their review and application of labor production factors, equipment, scaffolding, tools, safety, general conditions and any other project specific requirements.

  • Develop estimated based on scope requirements or on all items normally provided for specific Clients.

  • Be able to co-ordinate any specific requirements that may only be indicated on MEP drawings.

  • Prepare proposals for project based on estimates indicating all inclusions and exclusions from scope of works.

  • Request current material pricing from at least three major suppliers based on materials list generated for the specific project.

  • Ensure that assemblies are estimated per the relevant designations as indicated on plans: – UL, RAL, GYPSUM ASSOCIATION etc. or any other association with local, regional and national jurisdiction with code related matters.

  • Execute quantity survey of assemblies according to plans and specifications.

  • Make pre-bid site visit to establish logistics for stocking projects, ingress-egress, deck heights and type of existing construction (if project is a remodel), site layout areas, parking areas, and any local and or county code enforcement, work hours, noise levels, etc.

  • Be able to identify any inconsistency and prepare request for clarification and or information from person responsible for said clarifications.

  • Assist Project Manager with cost Estimate of all large Post Contract Drawing Changes.

  • Be able to use estimating software (On Screen Take Off, using electronic digitizer and transferring take-off information to estimating software – Quick bid).

  • To be able to do estimates without the aid of electronic (assistance-by hand method).

  • Estimate any requested alternate pricing for sections of work that may be requested with bid proposal.

  • Any other related duties assigned by the Director of Estimating.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 8 or more years as a commercial construction drywall estimator.

  • Proficiency in using On-Screen Take-Off and QuickBid to prepare estimates.

  • Skilled in prepare budgets from drawings and/or written descriptions.

  • Experienced in identifying and analyzing “Value Engineering Opportunities”.

  • Excellent computer skills.

  • Ability to communicate professionally with suppliers and clients.

  • Proficient in reading/understanding drawings and specifications.

  • Proficient in preparing detailed proposals.

  • Experienced in preparing pre-bid RFI’s.

  • Excellent ability to communicate project parameters and estimate details to peers, senior managers and clients.

  • Strong planning and work organization skills.
