 Director of Estimating

CCE Specialties, LLC is seeking an experienced Director of Estimating who will be based in their King George, VA office.  The Director of Estimating is responsible for overseeing a staff of estimators to ensure accurate estimates of materials and labor required to perform the work defined by the specifications and drawings of a project, in addition to other responsibilities below.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Develop and cultivate relationships with suppliers, customers and staff.  Preserve and foster current relationships.

  • Be an effective verbal and written communicator as it is the Director’s responsibility to liaise with all stakeholders for the project to be a success.

  • Be able to listen, especially customers, about project specifications and details.

  • Must be detail oriented to get accurate results.

  • Proficiency in critical thinking and data analysis to identify cost drivers and best utilization of materials and resources for budget reviews, bids, design-assist and value engineering projects.

  • Prepare and present results to customers in an intelligent and professional manner as the Director is often the face of the company.

  • Preparation of annual department budget.

Critical Abilities:

  • Oversee estimating staff proposals to ensure accuracy, timeliness, inclusion of all stipulations, exclusions, material pricing and any material pricing escalations.

  • Engage with Construction Manager post contract to review project requirements like Architect’s supplemental instructions, requests for change, requests for information, design and dimensional changes and changes from other trades.

  • Utilize experience and knowledge to aid clients in design-assist and value engineering projects.

  • Manage estimating projects with an eye to the future to ensure CCE’s economic stability regarding lulls between projects and staffing.

  • Hold regular meetings with President, General Manager and Construction Manager on bid strategies, client list, new clients, job evaluations and any other related issues.

  • Ability to prepare conceptual budgets for clients.

  • Ensure production estimates are updated in conjunction with field operations management based upon current work expectations and anticipated project conditions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Construction Management or 20 years relevant estimating/project management experience

Experience with WinBid, OST or Plexxis Software

 

Capable of working under pressure, handling multiple projects and tasks

 

Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel

Strong communication skills
